New York, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2010
The Silhouette, the only Platinum LEED Certified building in Brooklyn, is collaborating with The Galluccio Group, Prudential Douglas Elliman and The Gulf Restoration Network to raise funds to help restore the Gulf of Mexico, which has been devastated by the BP oil drilling disaster.
From September 16 through September 20, with the assistance of curator Reka Nyari, the Silhouette will act as a gallery for local photographers who are donating all proceeds from the sale of their work to assist in the restoration of the Gulf. The theme for the event, "The World Through Our Eyes," focuses on our ecosystem and environment. Exhibit hours are Thursday, Sept. 16, 6PM to 9PM; and Friday through Sunday, Sept. 17-19, by appointment only.
"The World Through Our Eyes" exhibition will highlight amazing talent from the NYC community within the Silhouette's unique, eco-friendly living spaces. Funds raised will be donated to The Gulf Restoration Network, which is committed to uniting and empowering people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf Region for future generations.
The Silhouette, a four-story 5,500-square-foot condominium building with advanced green features, is located at 272 21st Street in Brooklyn's South Slope. The Silhouette recently won a 2010 Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Building Award under the low-rise residential category.
New York is responding to this disaster in inventive ways. Artists, designers, green developers, real estate brokers and environmentally conscious individuals are coming together and offering their talents and services to raise funds for the restoration of the Gulf.
"As a member of the group who developed The Silhouette, and as someone who grew up swimming and playing in the Gulf of Mexico, I was particularly moved to put together an event that will help raise money and awareness for the cleanup of the Gulf," said Robert Roth, CEO of the Green Envy Development Group and co-developer of the Silhouette project. "With the participation of our event curator, Reka Nyari, as well as her selected artists and their artwork, we hope to provide a fitting platform for our event patrons, sponsors and donors to express their appreciation for this cause, and enjoy a fine late summer afternoon at The Silhouette, with food, drinks, artwork and a charitable spirit."
