East Orange General Hospital Appoints Franklin D. Hickey As New Chief Nursing Officer

A resident of Union County, Mr. Franklin D. Hickey will be instrumental in continiuing to help East Orange General Hospital achieve its strategic goals.

East Orange General Hospital (EOGH), the only independent, fully accredited, acute-care hospital in Essex County, is pleased to name Mr. Franklin D. Hickey, RN, MSN, CPHQ, to the position of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). He will officially begin his tenure on August 2nd. The appointment follows an extensive state-wide search.

As Chief Nursing Officer, Mr. Hickey is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of nursing within the hospital, as well as developing and implementing nursing strategies and policies for the delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care.

“Mr. Hickey will be instrumental in helping East Orange General Hospital to achieve its strategic goals, particularly in the areas of patient care, satisfaction and outcomes,” said Kevin J. Slavin, the hospital’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “With over 16 years of nursing management experience, he brings the guidance and experience necessary to help the nurses at the Hospital to fulfill our vision to deliver outstanding, high-quality, efficient and safe care.”

Before joining East Orange General Hospital, Mr. Hickey recently served as Director of Emergency and Adult Acute Care Services at Saint Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick. Prior to working at Saint Peters University Hospital, he worked at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY, and Saint Barnabas Healthcare System in Union, NJ.

Mr. Hickey is a resident of Union County. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from New Jersey City University and a master’s degree in Nursing Administration from the College of Mount St. Vincent. He is also currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Healthcare Leadership from Seton Hall University.
