Workshop geared towards women business owners ready to do business with Corporate America.

The Women’s Business Enterprise Council South (WBEC South), a regional partner organization of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) out of Washington, DC, will be taking its Executive Leadership Workshop Series on the road this summer, starting with a stop in Nashville, TN.

The workshop series, aptly titled SEED (Sparking Empowerment & Economic Development), is in its second year and is underwritten, in part, by Chevron. Each workshop installment includes access to a choice of three workshops (out of nine possibilities), a luncheon ticket and admittance to a closing, evening reception.

Of particular interest to TN-based women business owners will be their access to instruction from a Belmont University scholar, specifically from the Scarlett Leadership Institute. This exclusive access is normally reserved only for students enrolled in Scarlett’s leadership development and management education program. Attendees will also get to choose a customized track with options such as Corporate Procurement, Intellectual Property, Winning Corporate Cultures and Leadership Development.

“The Leadership Development arm of the program is actually of the most interest to me,” stated Sherry Stewart Deutschmann, CEO of Letter Logic of Nashville. “To have the benefit of hearing from leaders from Community Health Systems, ADS Security and Bridgestone Americas, all in one setting….that’s just invaluable information for me to apply towards my business.” Deutschmann is also involved in the program, as she will be leading the breakout session on how to create a winning culture within a company.

“WBEC South has approximately 125 women-owned businesses as members in the state of TN. However, our SEED Series allows any woman-owned business to take advantage of the great programming that our organization offers,” stated Blanca Robinson, President of WBEC South. “We find that most women business owners come, not only for the networking aspect of the event, but for the session that deals with Corporate Procurement. That’s the real reason for our existence. We assist WBEs (women’s business enterprises) in their growth by connecting them with supplier diversity professionals from Fortune 1000 corporations.”

WBEC South’s SEED event will take place on Thursday, July 29th, at the Gordon Inman Center at the Scarlett Leadership Institute on Belmont University’s campus. The event starts with registration at noon, followed by a progressive, networking luncheon. The workshops begin at 2PM, and the event concludes with an off-campus evening networking reception at Miro District.
