The JW Marriott Hotel Rio De Janeiro has claimed its position as the leading luxury hotel in the area after a R$9 million renovation project spanning the last two years. Improvements are mainly focused on bettering the travel experience for the executive guest. The Rio hotel continues to conduct renovations and plans to invest an additional R$1 million this year in efforts to create an entirely new standard of hotel luxury in Rio De Janeiro. One of the most significant renovations is the modernization of the Executive Lounge, now featuring customized services that allow business travelers to proactively and comfortably accomplish work tasks. This ninth floor lounge is exclusive to guests who stay in suites and executive rooms and offers views of the Copacabana Beach. The Executive Lounge is cleverly divided into zones: “Individual Zone” for those who may prefer a little more privacy for reading or accessing personal laptops; “Technology Zone” with two work stations, Internet access and a multifunction printer; “Community Table Zone” for small meetings with connectivity; “Social Business Zone” the ideal space for socializing, having drinks or relaxing; and the “Wrap and Go Zone” open 24/7 with amenities available such as fresh fruits, snacks, yogurt, coffee and juice. Other Executive Lounge services include private check-in and check-out and butler service upon request.

The JW Marriott Hotel Rio de Janeiro renovation was a three-phased process. In 2008, the first phase focused on replacing carpets within guestroom and social areas with a contemporary, anti-allergenic fabric, thereby following the Marriott guidelines worldwide. Other enhancements include new curtains, new bathtub grab bars and new vanity mirrors. The taps and shower heads were replaced by ecologic and consumption-saving models. Additionally, the Fitness Center received new cardio equipment.

The second renovation phase was accomplished in 2009 and involved installing LCD 42” televisions, iPod docks and new wall lighting in all guestrooms. Work spaces were improved with ergonomic desk chairs. The Presidential Suite was also redecorated to align with the latest Marriott hospitality concepts. Furthermore, The Terraneo complex’s restaurants and bar were refurbished with soft, modern furnishings that reflect Rio de Janeiro’s style and flair.

2010 improvements include a new pantry and a complete refurbishment of the Mirante Copacabana (hotel rooftop.) The Fitness Center will receive new strength equipment and new surveillance cameras are being installed in all social areas. Guests will also be able to utilize wireless Internet access throughout the hotel – a true perk for business travelers.
