We are delighted that our PeriBirth solution has met the ARRA IFR Stage 1 certification criteria

PeriGen, Inc., the only OB-specific risk reduction company to provide solutions which generate immediate quantifiable clinical and financial value, today announced that its PeriBirth® solution (Version v 4.3.5) has been inspected by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®) and is a certified EHR Module , IFR Stage 1, preliminarily meeting 10 of 22 requirements for Hospitals published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the Interim Final Rule of January 2010. These requirements were revised with the publication of the final rules on July 13. Inspection information is available at http://www.cchit.org/products. For the purpose of qualifying products for ARRA incentives, CCHIT anticipates but has not yet received accreditation by HHS.

“We are delighted that our PeriBirth solution has met the ARRA IFR Stage 1 certification criteria,” said Donald A. Deieso, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO, PeriGen, Inc. “EHR certification marks an important milestone for the adoption of healthcare IT in the United States, and we believe the preliminary ARRA IFR Stage 1 certification of our solution demonstrates PeriGen’s leadership in this initiative.”

This week, HHS issued its Final Rule on Standards, Implementation Specifications, and Certification Criteria, which outlines the requirements that companies like PeriGen will need to meet in order to receive final certification of their EHR technology. HHS also issued its Final Rule on the definition of “Meaningful Use,” which outlines the requirements that hospitals will need to meet in order to qualify for ARRA funding.

“We are confident that our technology is aligned to meet the new criteria,” said Mike Pritts, PeriGen’s Chief Technology Officer, “and that our clients are well positioned to qualify for ARRA funding.”

Natan Blanks, Senior Vice President and Technology Solutions Architect at PeriGen added, “We have long been confident that PeriBirth could stand shoulder to shoulder with other CCHIT® certified products and now we have the documentation to prove it.”

The Preliminary ARRA IFR Stage 1 program, operated by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®) inspects EHR technology against federal minimum criteria and standards developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and published on January 13, 2010. The program is designed to demonstrate that a vendor’s product is well prepared to be certified once Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) accredited testing and certification becomes available. When CCHIT is authorized as a testing and certification body, it will replace the Preliminary ARRA program with a final, ONC-accredited ARRA certification program, and health IT companies will have an opportunity to return to complete final certification.
