Sunquest Bestows First Annual Excellence Awards for Laboratory Solution Success

Sunquest Information Systems, Inc.®, a leading provider of healthcare diagnostic information technology and outreach solutions, presented its new Excellence Awards at its recent 29th Annual Sunquest User Group (SUG) Conference and Exposition. The event was held July 13-16, at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort in Tucson, Arizona and was attended by approximately 250 laboratory professionals from around the globe.

Sunquest presented Excellence Awards for laboratory customer achievement. These awards were based on specific criteria, including support of service line initiatives, commitment to quality, and focus on patient safety.

Bon Secours Health System, a large multi-hospital network across the eastern United States, was honored with the Excellence in Workflow Standardization Award for integration and consolidation of clinical and anatomic pathology workflows across their enterprise. This work enabled Bon Secours to create capabilities that improved the quality, safety, and efficacy of patient care while creating a foundation for clinical and translational research.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) was honored with the Excellence in Diagnostic IT Solutions Award for their dedicated utilization of a full suite of laboratory, specimen and transfusion management solutions across their enterprise. CTCA’s Western Regional Medical Center became the first all-digital cancer hospital in the US to enhance patient care via completely automated laboratory diagnostic solutions.

Salem Community Hospital, in Salem, Ohio was honored with the Excellence in Patient Safety Award for their adoption of technology in support of enterprise patient safety initiatives. The implementation of Sunquest’s Point of Care Solutions – Collection Manager™ and Transfusion Manager™ – enabled the organization to create a closed-loop process to proactively eliminate errors, ensure compliance with procedures, and increase nursing productivity.

The University of Kentucky Hospital received the Excellence in Enterprise-Wide Patient Safety Award. The university hospital implemented Sunquest’s Collection Manager™ across their entire enterprise, including all nursing and patient care areas. The implementation delivered increased patient safety as well as staff efficiency.

Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio was honored for Excellence in Predictive Medicine for their laboratory work in cutting-edge gene therapy targeting improvements in the care of children.

The Excellence in ICE™ Workflow was awarded to Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals’ NHS Foundation and Trust in the UK, where they deployed this broad solution set across the entire healthcare continuum of the 650 bed, hospital system supporting more than 90 physician offices.
