Nelson brings 20 years of management experience, having previously served as marketing manager, and promotions and program director for Time Warner Cable Metro Sports, as well as creative director for WDAF-TV. Nelson has been an active member of the Kansas City Sports Commission and WIN for KC for ten years and was the recipient of the 2004 Alex George Volunteer of the Year award. She has served on several WIN for KC committees and has been a member of the WIN Advisory Board.

Founded in 1994, WIN for KC aims to improve the physical and emotional well-being of girls and women through involvement in sports and fitness. Premier events, such as Win for KC Women’s Sports Awards Celebration and the WIN for KC Women’s Triathlon, include participation and networking opportunities, leadership seminars and promotions of women’s events. WIN also recognizes girls’ and women’s contributions to sports and advocates for equal opportunities.
