One of the major barriers to successful sales on the Internet is communication. In a traditional store, customers can have a short conversation with sales staff before they make a purchase. As part of their continuing effort to improve buyer satisfaction on its China wholesale trading platform, DHgate.com recently introduced a new feature known as DHtalk, which facilitates fast and effective communication between sellers and buyers.

DHgate.com, a major China wholesale platform, recently introduced a new on-site tool to facilitate better business relationships and greater buyer satisfaction. The new on-site IM function is called DHtalk, and assists the way that many buyers prefer to do business on the popular China wholesale trading platform.

The DHtalk function will supplement the existing eBay-style feedback system on DHgate.com, where buyers can see:

  •     How long a seller has been a member of DHgate.com
  •     Their percentage positive feedback, as well as time-based aggregates of neutral and negative scores
  •     Short comments from other buyers, as well as the seller's responses to them.

James He of DHgate.com says that he sees two main advantages for buyers in using DHtalk. "The DHtalk instant chat function on site gives buyers another more precise avenue for information about products, apart from the DHgate.com customer service team. It also gives buyers the opportunity to judge the professionalism and service skills of sellers for themselves," Mr He said.

While buyers and sellers have always been able to make contact through the site, instant message discussions were previously not possible. Mr He said "IM is now widely recognized as superior to email in many respects, with one recent study from Taiwan suggesting that it facilitates better business relationships. We want those same advantages for our China wholesale buyers."

The DHtalk option has been especially popular with buyers, who often form relationships with a few sellers who suit their trading style. As Timur Hassan, a DHgate.com Gold VIP member, said: "After a space of 2 months I finally settled down with 1 seller, I could do great business with this guy as we have 100% trust together."
