Barrette Outdoor Living and Bluelinx Announce Agreement to Distribute Outdoor Products to Lumberyards

Barrette Outdoor Living (“Barrette”) and BlueLinx Corporation (“BlueLinx”) announced today an agreement to sell and distribute outdoor products to their customer base of professional dealers, lumberyards, manufacturers and specialty retailers. As part of the agreement, Barrette will supply BlueLinx distribution locations in select markets with railing, fencing, shed, lattice and yard accent products under the Xpanse™ brand name.

Barrette is the leading vinyl, wood and aluminum manufacturer of fencing, railing, yard accents, and sheds across North America. The agreement with BlueLinx, a leading distributor of building products in North America, gives Barrette access to a world class distribution platform. The strength of the Xpanse product offering and Bluelinx’ market reach, supply chain management and service will create a platform for growth for the two companies.

Jeff Brown, vice president of sales, Barrette Outdoor Living, added the Barrette-BlueLinx relationship was a natural fit because it combines Barrette’s strengths in engineering, product innovation and manufacturing and BlueLinx’s industry leading sales, service and distribution.

In 2009, Barrette conducted hundreds of interviews with lumberyards, contractors and builders to understand the market and determine the opportunity to provide rail, fence, shed, lattice and yard accent products to lumberyards through two-step distribution. The Xpanse brand offers contractors an opportunity to build products outside the home, while maintaining a consistent look, feel and quality. Along with durability and aesthetics, a key feature of the Xpanse brand is quick and easy installation.

Sales figures for the agreement were not released, but Barrette is hiring additional staff to support the BlueLinx initiative. Xpanse brand products are being produced at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Bull Gap, Tenn., Flint, Mich., Satellite, Ga. and Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
