“Most importantly, we are thankful that no injuries resulted from this incident,” stated Sekley.
Columbia, S.C. (PRWEB) July 29, 2010
A powerful storm destroyed a steel and wood frame storage building at the corporate headquarters of Southland Log Homes, Inc. on Monday, July 26 near Columbia, SC. The log buildings that house the company’s offices and model homes were undamaged by the reported “micro-burst” which created winds estimated to be in excess of 85 mph. There were no injuries reported from the Southland incident.
The storm, which caused power loss and flooding for many Columbia residents and businesses, tore the roof off and collapsed the walls of the Southland storage building and blew large pieces of the debris onto adjacent businesses. The strong winds also caused large insulating panels to be widely scattered over nearby properties and trees.
“The storm caused considerable damage to our site, but it did illustrate the resilience and durability of our log homes,” said Ken Sekley, CEO of Southland Log Homes. “Our log buildings made it through the storm with no damage. As a result, we are fully back in operation, shipping custom log homes to our customers around the country.”
