Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 29, 2010
Houston-based manufacturer of custom silicone wristbands, Bandyz, devised a plan to assist organizations cleaning up the Gulf of Mexico from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill while educating children on the sea creatures, region and people who continue to be affected by the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Rescue Bandyz – Gulf Coast Edition is a specially designed product containing shaped silicone wristbands of the animals and states harmed by the spill.
This well-orchestrated group of shaped rubber bands, similar to the popular Silly Bandz®, not only entertains children and adults, it brings each shape to life and reminds us all of what is truly important. Of the 25 different shapes included in each pack, nineteen of the shapes represent actual sea creatures, five Gulf States are represented and the hard-working people suffering from the disastrous oil spill are illustrated in the form of a boat with its net full. “If you are going to buy shaped rubber bands for your kids, purchase a pack that is truly educational, touching and helps with a worthy cause. We all need to be a part of the solution.” says Victor Rey, president of MCV Sales Co, LLC, parent company of Bandyz.com. "There is nothing like this out there and it is expected to become a true collector’s item." Additionally, Bandyz.com has dedicated pages on their site for educational information purposes which show images of each shape and its real counterpart.
A $2.00 donation from each pack will go to Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, a non-profit organization which leads the way in oil spill wildlife rescue and research both domestically and internationally and is currently on the scene of the Deepwater Horizon disaster coordinating the wildlife rescue and cleanup effort. The donations will allow Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research to continue operations and develop better techniques for future disasters. Rebecca Elzey, Director of Development for Tri-State is “very pleased that Bandyz has chosen to support us through the sale of their new Rescue Bandyz. We are grateful that they understand the value of supporting our general operations so that we can continue to be prepared and available to respond to incidents like the current spill affecting the Gulf Coast."
Victor Rey’s last words on this were, “I literally started to sob when I saw the first shapes come off the production line, because I thought about beautiful creatures like the innocent Ridley sea turtles which will lose their lives because of this spill which should never have happened. It was then that I knew we were going to help the world with a simple rubber band. My hopes are that they have the same effect on everyone, as we must learn from this and not leave it as “someone else’s” problem. It is a problem that affects us all and we must all help to help solve.”
Shaped silicone wristbands are the hottest product of 2010 and Rescue Bandyz - Gulf Coast Edition is one historical product that will solely support devastated victims of this catastrophe. Bandyz.com vows that never will the $2.00 donation be kept as a profit for the company, no matter how many years the sales may continue.
