Red Funnel Ferries has launched a new Isle of Wight travel website for smartphone users in time for Cowes Week 2010.
The new site offers mobile customers on the move detailed timetable information for both Red Funnel’s Southampton/East Cowes route and the Southampton/West Cowes Red Jet Hi-Speed service. In addition, live service updates are available including live vessel position information so customers can easily see the location of the ferry they plan to catch, including its speed and heading. It also provides the latest Red Funnel news, offers and information on how to find the ferry terminals which are shown on a Google map. New features will be added in the future and a new iPhone Application is in development and will be launched in September.
Jonathan Green, Sales & Marketing Director commented, “The rapid growth of smartphones and development possibilities afforded by such devices, coupled with demand from travelers for accurate and up-to-date travel information, led us to develop the new website in time for this year's Cowes Week. An app specifically for the iPhone is in development and will launch in September and new functionality will be added to both platforms in the future.”
Travelling to the Isle of Wight is easy with Red Funnel. Vehicle ferries run regularly around the clock from Southampton, which is within easy reach of the M3 and M27 and return fares for a car and up to 6 people start from just £34.
Cowes Week will take place from Saturday 31 July to 7 August. An unmissable fixture in the summer sailing and social calendar since 1826, this celebrated regatta attracts up to 1,000 boats ranging from hi-tech yachts to classic day-boats, and tens of thousands of spectators keen to watch the epic races, enjoy the lively Cowes Week parties and soak up the festival atmosphere.
