Beltsville, MD (PRWEB) August 3, 2010
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has placed a high priority on security and protection against the theft of personal identification and confidential information on future outsourcing contracts awarded under state contract OFF27 that covers microfilm, document imaging, software, hardware, document scanning and document conversion services.
DataBank, a leading provider of outsourced scanning services for many state departments and agencies over the past five years, was recently added to Category 2B of the contract as the only vendor on this procurement vehicle that has earned the prestigious certifications now available to the Commonwealth’s many agencies that have asked for more audited protection from document imaging vendors seeking to do business with the state.
Through a reciprocal agreement enjoyed by many states, it is anticipated that DataBank, a national document imaging company, will be able to provide the same services available in Massachusetts to other states that can purchase the secure and confidential outsourced services by referencing the Massachusetts contract. All DataBank facilities are SAS 70 Type II and PCI DSS certified and audited at every stage of the document conversion process from the time we pick-up the documents until data and images are returned to the client.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts conducted an in-depth analysis of all vendors on the OFF27 Contract and determined that none of them had earned the certifications offered by DataBank.
Dick Aschman, CEO, said; “Our team worked with the Commonwealth for several months as they investigated the importance of these certifications in light of the heightened security associated with outsourcing critical and confidential State information that often contains personal identification information, credit card numbers, and Social Security numbers. Our certifications are audited by professional third-party firms that validate not only the procedures we have in place, but they test our company annually to assure that the processes are followed by all of our employees every day, by every person, at every stage of the process and on every project that is completed by DataBank.”
Massachusetts, a national leader in security and leading-edge procurement systems, recently enacted 201 CMR 17:00, one of the country’s toughest data privacy laws.
Chuck Bauer, President and COO, noted; “We have made significant investments in our seven document conversion facilities across the country and the systems and infrastructure are protected by a private WAN, unmatched in our industry today. Our policies and procedures are continually monitored by our internal IT management team and the third-party auditors that validate these processes every year. We are pleased that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts recognizes the importance that the investments we have made will have a significant impact on protecting their documents while in our possession. Hopefully, other states will recognize the significance of these certifications and take advantage of the vendor analysis and capabilities that the Commonwealth thoroughly researched; which resulted in placing only one company on the contract capable of providing document conversion services in such a secure environment – DataBank.”
