Harold Solomon, world renown tennis coach and one of the United States all-time great players, today announced that Liam Smith will join Harold as his partner at The Harold Solomon Tennis Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Liam joins Harold following the departure of Andy Brandi, who has become National Coach at the United States Tennis Association.
“All of us are thrilled that Liam is joining our Institute team”, Harold said. “He is a perfect fit for our hands-on and highly personalized training methodology for coaching tennis players. His great experience, enthusiasm, and total commitment to the success of his players will certainly enhance our program. I look forward to working on the court with him for years to come.
“Liam is one of the bright young innovators in our sport, and I believe his fresh ideas will further energize our daily work.”
In joining the Solomon Institute, Liam scrapped his plan to open his own tennis academy in Florida. “This is a once in a lifetime partnership opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up”, Liam said. I can’t wait to join Harold, who is clearly one of the world’s most highly respected tennis coaches, in the unique and supportive environment he has established in South Florida. I know he is producing great results with his students, and I am confident that I will be able to enhance the Institute both on and off the court.”
Harold and his business partner Larry Kashdin both thanked Andy Brandi, and expressed their gratitude for the great four and a half years they spent together at the Institute.
“Andy has been a truly great partner and will always be a great friend”, they stated jointly. “He was instrumental to the opening of our Institute and to our success, and we and our students will always be grateful for his tireless work and his commitment to excellence. We fully understand his desire to join the USTA and we wish him continued success in his new position.”
LIAM C. SMITH, 31, has extensive experience as a high performance tennis professional at several of the world’s major tennis academies, including Van Der Meer Tennis and The Hopman Tennis Academy at Saddlebrook Resort. He has coached and traveled the world with ATP and WTA pro’s, as well as with elite junior players on the ITF circuit. His talent as a coach and administrator has led to coaching stints at all four Grand Slams, and allowed him to work with various national tennis federations and Davis Cup/Fed Cup players. Liam will join the Institute effective with the start of its fall semester on August 16, 2010.
