IBWA’s consumer website, http://www.BottledWaterMatters.com, has released “The Inner Workings of a Bottled Water Plant,” an 11-minute, educational YouTube video that gives consumers an inside look at the process of producing safe, quality bottled water.
In its latest video, Bottled Water Matters sends our teenage correspondent to visit IBWA member Robert Smith’s “Grand Springs” bottling facility in Alton, VA. Following bottled water’s progression from spring source to finished product, the video provides an insightful look at the numerous (and fascinating) steps involved in producing bottling water—both single-serve and home and office delivery (HOD).
The video should help explain that many steps are involved in producing bottled water.
“Nearly all of our 15 YouTube videos demonstrate efforts by bottled water companies to educate consumers about environmental, safety and health issues,” said Tom Lauria, IBWA vice president of communications. “In this video, we wanted to give a quick but straight forward tour of how bottled water is produced—thus revealing the care, scientific oversight, and pride water bottlers take in producing a safe, convenient, and healthy product.”

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) is the authoritative source of information about all types of bottled waters. Founded in 1958, IBWA's membership includes U.S. and international bottlers, distributors and suppliers. IBWA is committed to working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates bottled water as a packaged food product, and state governments to set stringent standards for safe, high quality bottled water products. Additionally, IBWA requires member bottlers to adhere to the IBWA Bottled Water Code of Practice, which mandates additional standards and practices that, in some cases, are more stringent than federal and state regulations. A key feature of the IBWA Model Code is an annual plant inspection by an independent, third party organization.
