Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 16, 2010

United States Congressman Jim McDermott (D-7th District) today met with Modumetal, Inc executives, investors and scientists as he toured the company’s facilities. Modumetal was chosen as the Alliance of Angels “2010 Company of the Year” as well as the 2010 recipient of the “Luis Villalobos Award”.

Christina Lomasney, Modumetal CEO, expressed her appreciation for Congressman McDermott’s interest and support of Modumetal and other small businesses in Washington State. “We are grateful for the support that Congressman McDermott has afforded Modumetal both directly and through his general support of the local small-business community,” said Lomasney. “By coming to our facility today, he not only underscored the commitment of his support, but he also took the time to understand the real challenges that our small businesses face in today’s challenging economic times, and shared in our vision and hope for a future that includes a new generation of advanced materials and environmentally-friendly and sustainable manufacturing. This is the vision of Modumetal, and we’re honored to have Congressman McDermott share that vision.”

Modumetal of Seattle, WA, founded in 2007, is realizing the commercial potential of a unique class of nano-laminated materials. The company is creating materials that will change design and manufacturing of metals by redefining structural, corrosion, and high temperature performance. Modumetal is made by a “green” electrochemical manufacturing approach, which reduces the carbon footprint of conventional metals manufacturing at the same time that it revolutionizes materials performance. For his part, Congressman McDermott was impressed by the progress of Modumetal in a variety of areas, including its development of advanced coating technologies and next generation materials.

“Our private sector economy needs companies like Modumetal to help create high-paying, clean technology jobs,” said Congressman McDermott. “Their team is a symbol of the competitive edge that we have in Washington State and are a perfect example of the success that can come from public and private collaboration. The Pacific Northwest has long been ahead of the curve in creating clean technology jobs, and I know that with companies like Modumetal, we’ll continue to lead the way. I’m so pleased to see the success that Modumetal is enjoying, and look forward to bigger and better things from them in the future.”
