New Brighton, MN (PRWEB) August 31, 2010

Michele Stroup, owner of Adagio’s Pizza Factory in New Brighton, and Bill Lage, a US Foodservice sales representative based in Plymouth, both drove home sweet rides—bright orange 2010 Chevrolet® Camaro® cars—as grand prize winners of the Sweet Things Sweet Ride Sweepstakes from ConAgra Foods® Lamb Weston®. The cars were among 30 prizes recently awarded as part of the foodservice industry sweepstakes designed to generate excitement about the Lamb Weston line of Sweet Things®-branded sweet potato products, available to restaurants and foodservice outlets.

Other prizes included Vespa® Scooters, Canon® PowerShot® cameras, and Apple iPods®.

The sweepstakes entry forms allowed foodservice operators to designate their distributor sales representative, who would win the same prize as the operator, if drawn. “Our customers asked for sweet potato fries, so we added them as a monthly special,” said Stroup. “The response was overwhelmingly positive, so we have continued featuring them. After winning the car, I renamed our sweet potato fries ‘Camaro’ Fries!”

“When I found out Michele and I won, I was in awe. I couldn’t believe it,” said Lage. “My family and I plan to enjoy the car with our friends and neighbors.” Lage’s employer, US Foodservice, distributes food, equipment and other supplies to restaurants nationwide. He added, “I’m so happy for Michele. She’s a great business person who enjoys spending time with her customers and providing them with good quality food.”

“At Lamb Weston, our goal is to offer our customers the broadest and most innovative line of quality frozen sweet potato products in the industry,” said Helene Clark, director of marketing for Lamb Weston®. “Consumer interest in sweet potatoes is growing exponentially, and we are dedicated to providing our foodservice customers with quality, on-trend products for their menus. The sweepstakes allowed us to share our excitement about, and commitment to, sweet potatoes in the foodservice industry.”

This fall, Lamb Weston will begin processing sweet potatoes at its new processing facility in Delhi, La. The plant - situated in a region of the country known for its sweet potatoes - is uniquely equipped to process sweet potatoes, as well as other Lamb Weston products.
