Kohl's Cares is giving away $10 million to twenty schools 10 million dollars to twenty schools nationwide. All a school has to do is get the most votes and have a great idea. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. It's really hard. It's so hard, everyone has dropped out, except for the big schools and a couple of little guys. Three little schools without any state funding have banded together and are asking for nationwide support. They are asking for help to secure votes on Facebook in the Kohl’s Cares 10th Anniversary $10,000,000 cash giveaway. Twenty schools across the nation will be awarded $500,000 each.
Life Center Academy in Burlington, New Jersey, Lucas Christian Academy, from Lucas, Texas and Summit Christian Academy located in Yorktown, Virginia, and have teamed resources to help all three schools win $500,000 each. These three schools each serve approximately 250 students grades K thru 12. These private schools do not receive any public funding and are focused on partnering with parents to teach Christian values, and serving their individual communities in a wide variety of ways. They are now asking for support locally and nationally to help in ensuring a place for ALL three schools in the top twenty slots.
This partnership has truly proven to be a “David vs. Goliath story” since these 3 small Christian schools are competing nationwide against much larger schools for votes on Facebook. Huge communities have banded together to replace a high school devastated by weather, while others have supported their alma maters. Life Center Academy, Lucas Christian, and Summit Academy are getting “votes” the good old-fashioned way – word of mouth, mom-to-mom, standing in the grocery line, and talking it up via the chat room.
Supporters can go to the websites, http://www.vote4sca.com , http://www.flcnj.org , and http://www.lucaschristianacademy.com to vote. These little schools need support in order to get into and stay in the TOP 20 schools, so they can build their science labs, expand their curriculums and pay for their new school buildings. These are the little schools that could, but without a person's vote, they really can’t.
Tim Moon, Headmaster at Summit Christian Academy has decided to fast until Summit Christian Academy gets into the top 20 schools. Both to show his school families his commitment level and to emphasis how important winning this contest is for the school.
