North Country Dental Stimulates North Conway Economy and Appetites with Grand Opening Event

NCD welcomes over 150, including New Hampshire State Reps, to the grand opening of their North Conway office. The opening of the new office - NCD's second - brings advanced dental care to more areas in the North Country. It also provides economic stimulus in the form of job opportunities in an area especially hard hit by economic downturn.

North Country Dental celebrated the opening of its second office in the North Country Saturday, July 17th with free barbeque, prizes, music and giveaways to local attractions and businesses. The North Country Dental Grand Opening FunFest welcomed over 150 people, who included residents, visitors and local and state government VIPs. Several area food and entertainment businesses were employed for the event.

Representative Thomas Buco (d), Representative Evalyn Merrick (d), and Representative Karen Umberger (r) were among the enthusiastic crowd who attended the festivities. They were on hand to witness the ribbon cutting for the new NCD office. Their participation was a show of support to the North Country business community. Letters of commendation were sent to NCD by Governor Lynch and Representative Raymond Burton. Both lauded NCD for their “tireless advocacy of oral health, commitment to education and charitable contributions to the North Country and in the world community.”

The six hour FunFest featured music, magic, Frisbees, balloons, lots of giveaways and some of the best barbeque this side of Texas. Everything, including the food, was free. Eric Heath, owner and chef of H&H Smoking Company Custom Smokers kept the crowd happy and well fed with an enticing array of barbeque chicken, sausage, brisket, baby back ribs and fixings. A live radio remote broadcast by WMWV 93.5 added music to the festivities. Everyone attending the FunFest entered to win gift certificates to area attractions and restaurants. The gift certificates were supplied by WMWV and WPKQ. North Country Dental also donated gift certificates for free cosmetic and other dental services. Dr. Schoenbeck, a former college DJ, took the WMWV microphone at the end of the event and personally awarded the prizes to respective winners.

The North Conway office was open all day for inspection; guests toured the facility and the extensive array of technologically advanced equipment on hand for use in cosmetic dentistry. The opening of the new office extends North Country Dental’s ability to provide advanced dental care to more areas in the North Country. It also provides more job opportunities in an area especially hard hit by the economic downturn. “A big problem for people is paying for the dental care they need,” said Allison White, office manager for North Country Dental’s Gorham office. “There are very few financing options available in the dental community these days. We (North Country Dental) are known to tailor treatment plans that work for a patient’s lifestyle now, with an eye to what might work in the future for them. We also accept most insurance plans and provide financing options to patients.” When asked why so many people went to North Country Dental, she said that among other reasons, “…we don’t judge anyone; we just want everyone to have the opportunity to have a great looking, healthy smile. Offering high tech dentistry in a comfortable atmosphere worked so well in Gorham, we wanted to bring that to other areas. That’s something people really appreciate.”

Dr. Schoenbeck echoed that sentiment. “I’m very excited to be in the North Conway area. We’ve been looking to provide care in that area for a while. People have been asking us to come down there for a long time. We’ve got over four hundred patients who make the long trip (from North Conway) to our Gorham office so it was only natural to meet the needs of the Conway area by opening the North Conway office. We’ve gotten fifty-five new patients in the last month since we opened.”

North Country Dental was conceived and created by Dr. Schoenbeck over a decade ago. He is a dynamic force in the local and world community. As a New Hampshire business, Dr. Schoenbeck has been a consistent contributor to both the local economy and public education on oral health. Employing dozens of people from the community, NCD provides both professional and administrative opportunities. With the new North Conway office, NCD now employs a staff of twenty-two, including four doctors, six hygienists, four dental assistants, and a front office staff of eight. As a proponent of health care, Dr. Schoenbeck is tireless in reaching out through donations of his own and his staff’s time in education and services with Give Kids A Smile Day, lectures and presentations at various hospitals, health and medical facilities. As a professional educator, Schoenbeck’s reach even extends to the U.S. Navy, where he has been invited on several occasions to teach at the Naval Dental School at Bethesda.

North Country Dental is the only dental office in New Hampshire with three CEREC (Chairside Economic Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) machines. Two of the three are the newest Blue-Cam technology. CEREC is used as an in-house "dental lab" that creates extremely precise restorations without impressions or time-consuming outside labs. CEREC technology allows quick and economical restoration of damaged teeth using a durable ceramic material that matches the color of the patient’s other teeth.

“I definitely feel our reputation has preceded us.” Dr. Schoenbeck said. “People are coming to the office because of our reputation and secondly, our proximity. Now that we’re closer, it makes it easier for the people who’ve wanted to come but haven’t been able to come (to the Gorham office).”

Schoenbeck is also an active proponent and supporter of local arts and culture. “We brought three more jobs to that local economy right off the bat,” he said. “I’m also community service minded so we’ll be able to participate in all the community activities for fund raising that we normally do in the Gorham branch, too.”
