Candidate Blocked From G6 Harlem Candidate Forum

Congressional Candidate Michel Faulkner thwarted by "one-party system."

Harlem, NY (PRWEB) August 23, 2010

Incumbent Democrat Congressman Charlie Rangel will face off with all but one of his challengers today at the Gang of Six's Harlem Candidate Forum/Debate. Republican and Jobs Now Party candidate Michel Faulkner was the only candidate barred from participating in the event. Lack of a Republican primary election was cited as the reason for the exclusion; however Independent candidate Craig Schley, also unchallenged in the primary, is scheduled to attend.

Faulkner and his campaign plan to hold a press conference and rally in front of Convent Avenue Baptist Church, 420 W. 145th St., where the event is being held, at August 23, 2010, 5:30pm in order to give attendees the opportunity to speak directly with the candidate and to hear his views on a variety of issues, most importantly the creation of new jobs throughout Harlem and the surrounding area.

"This is a prime example of the one-party system that has plagued Harlem for the past 40 years and led us down a path of apathy toward civic duty," says Faulkner of the exclusion from the debate, "That's why I'm running: to give voters a real choice on November 2nd. The people of Harlem are tired of 'politics as usual,' they are tired of the one-party system that pervades this district. Whether we are participating in this candidate forum or not, we will make sure the people of Harlem have the opportunity to hear our message that we need to bring new jobs to Harlem now, to get people back to work and back on their feet."
