Department of Public Safety selects Hyland's OnBase ECM software for electronic management of records

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) has selected Information Access Systems, Inc., a leading Systems Integrator specializing in Imaging, Workflow, and Enterprise Content Management to implement a comprehensive information management solution. The OK Department of Public Safety will utilize OnBase to simplify the management of documents related to its driver's license and identification card service operations.

The OK Department of Public Safety headquartered in Oklahoma City currently issues approximately 1.2 million digital driver licenses and ID Cards annually. These services are managed across 275 issuance locations and 47 separate testing facilities throughout the state of Oklahoma.

After utilizing a legacy imaging system for many years, OK DPS determined they needed greater flexibility in order to accommodate various end user and division requirements. Information Access System's proven DMV solution with OnBase was the logical answer. "As OnBase is being setup and implemented, there is no doubt DPS will discover more ways to refine and change its processes to be more streamlined, productive and user friendly," said Rhonda Larson, Assistant Director of Records Management.

The ability to make information research simpler and faster is of great importance to every division at OK DPS. One of the many OnBase features waiting to be implemented is Application Enabler which allows non-programmatic integration to their existing licensing system. Users will no longer have to know where documents are stored. An authorized user will have instant access to the information and all associated documents by using the single click functionality from their licensing application.

"We are extremely pleased that OK DPS joins the growing number of state motor vehicle agencies selecting IAS to solve its information and knowledge management challenges," said David Godiksen, President of Information Access Systems. "Through the use of ECM, our DMV clients have been able to cut costs and improve efficiency, but also enhance customer service and meet growing compliance requirements including mandates like the REAL ID Act."
