Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 30, 2010 —
Saint Xavier University has added a new specialization in Executive Leadership to its online Master of Science in Nursing Program. The online Nursing Master’s degree in Executive Leadership joins the MSN in Clinical Leadership specialization to offer experienced nurses a choice of advanced degrees, depending on whether they wish to pursue an administrative or clinical role.
The MSN in Executive Leadership is targeted to experienced nurses who want to advance into managerial positions where they can institute beneficial changes and have a voice in how units and departments are run. The curriculum emphasizes managerial skills such as strategic planning, communication, and leadership—vital knowledge in today’s complex and evolving health care environment—and is applicable to most clinical settings, such as hospitals, hospices, physicians’ offices, and rehabilitation centers.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that nursing jobs will increase significantly in the decade to come, fueled by changes in health care and an aging population. With so much growth comes a need for skilled managers with graduate nursing degrees to guide it. The online MSN in Executive Leadership at Saint Xavier University prepares nurses to face this challenge with confidence.
Students enrolled in the program can feel secure about the value and quality of their nursing education: In 2007 the National League for Nursing (NLN) named SXU’s School of Nursing as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education. SXU’s nursing school is currently one of only 15 schools in the country to receive this distinction. In addition, the School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
