Canadian North Airlines solved growing communications issues by seamlessly replacing legacy technology with AvFinity’s patent-pending integration/communications services.

AIRS has been flawless. It hasn't missed a beat. It doesn’t do anything but sit there and work, which is exactly as we needed it.

Canadian North Airlines recently selected the AvFinity Integrated Router Solution (AIRS™) as its state-of-the-art solution for legacy software technology issues that had been complicating communications between the regional air carrier and a critical flight partner.

A case study of this solution is available at http://www.avfinity.com/CaseStudies.php.

AIRS™ is a data communications/integration appliance that simplifies airline messaging issues as no other solution ever seen before. It is the platinum-level product available from the aviation communications experts at AvFinity LLC.

The AIRS™ patent-pending software technology contains a vast storehouse of tools to link similar or disparate systems, applications, protocols and formats. The AIRS software technology operates via the consistency and reliability of a Cisco Integrated Services Router.

AIRS™ deploys these multiple tools to facilitate aviation messaging via direct communications to vital messaging partners. For example, each plug-and-play AIRS unit provides essential connectivity access to principal North American flight authorities including NAV-CANADA and the FAA for filing flight plans and receiving U.S. and Canadian NOTAMs.

Customers connect through the AvFinity datacenter or they can use AIRS™ software technology via their own direct connections. With either option, customers benefit from the efficiencies of TCP/IP to send and receive aviation communications.

Canadian North, headquartered in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, selected AIRS™ to replace 1990s software that fed the airline NOTAMs from NAV-CANADA. AIRS™ is also compatible with the airline’s flight plan filing system, which was another requirement of the needed solution, said James Redeker, Canadian North Airline’s manager, flight dispatch.

“Since we’ve had AIRS™ running, it has been flawless,” Redeker said. “It hasn’t missed a beat. It doesn’t do anything but sit there and work, which is exactly as we needed it.”

After choosing AvFinity, the airline transitioned its legacy system to AIRS™. Canadian North experienced no impact on its operations during the switch thanks to the AIRS™ patent-pending scripting feature that extracts advisories from the legacy feed. AIRS Script™ allows any customer to make changes rapidly as needed while saving significant costs for hiring software developers to write custom applications. This scripting feature also duplicates the message format used in the legacy feed so that integration into the flight plan filing system used by Canadian North occurs transparently.

AIRS™ offers flight plan filing, NOTAMs, meteorological data, Advance Passenger Information, Collaborative Decision Making and many other aviation messaging services. Customers choose the services that they need for their specific communication challenges.
