Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 29, 2010
Tucker Ladd, proprietor of Trout’s Fly Fishing, Denver’s premier shop and resource for Colorado angling, recently compiled the Top Five Rivers for Fly Fishing this late summer season, and he reports that September and October are the top months of the year for the best fly fishing in the world.
“With the kids back in school, the tourists gone, and the river temperatures cooling, the best fishing spots in the state are wide open and the fish are particularly hungry,” he says. “Couple that with the beautiful fall foliage and the spectacular Colorado scenery, and it’s heaven for fly fishing.”
Trout’s keeps detailed fishing reports throughout the year, prepared by Ladd and a variety of fly fishing guides who work with the shop, and these reports are from actual fishermen who have waded or boated into the recommended locales. The latest featured reports offer expert, first-person accounts and rankings of the
Top Five Rivers to fly fishing Colorado as the summer wanes:
1. The South Platte River and Cheesman Canyon, about an hour south of Downtown Denver.
2. The Blue River below Green Mountain Reservoir, a few miles north of Dillon and Silverthorne.
3. The Colorado River near Parshall, Colo., in Grand County on the south side of Rte. 40 between
Hot Sulphur Springs and Kremmling.
4. The Eagle River, which runs through Eagle County not far from Vail.
5. The Frying Pan River in Pitkin County near Aspen.
“I personally fished four of these spots just recently, and one of my trusted guides fished the other, and we believe that for the next several weeks these Colorado locales offer Colorado anglers the best fly fishing experience possible,” says Ladd. “By this time of the year, the trout are big and voracious, offering a great chance to have them bite and promising a wonderful fight.”
The complete reports, available on Trout’s Fly Fishing’s website at http://www.troutsflyfishing.com/, offer river conditions, stream flow reports, and the fishermen’s recommendations on the best types of dry flies and nymphs to use for the best action. Ladd warns, however, that 2010 has been a particularly vibrant year for mosquitos on many Colorado rivers, “so be sure and come prepared with long sleeved shirts, and plenty of bug dope.”
Ladd’s Tout’s Fly Fishing is a complete fly fishing shop, with a complete array of equipment like rods, reels and line, and thousands of stocked flies with more than 2400 open bins making it the largest selection of flies available anywhere in the Western U.S. There is also gear ranging from waders, nets, vests and packs, to fishing bags, apparel and outerwear.
For the experienced fisherman and novice alike, Tout’s Fly Fishing also operates, on-site, the Angling University, under the direction of Ethan Emery, a Colorado native, pro-staff guide for the Fly Fisher Guide Service and a professional educator. Emery, a high school math and science teacher, has developed a fly fishing school curriculum that incorporates new technology, time-tested teaching techniques, and the best in fishing equipment to ensure that students leave the program satisfied and more accomplished in fly fishing. All classes take place on-site at Trout's Fly Fishing 3rd floor classroom, or on one of many stretches of river along the Front Range.
Trout’s Fly Fishing this year is celebrating its 15th anniversary and five years since Tucker Ladd purchased the shop. Located originally on Old South Gaylord, Ladd expanded his operations in 2007 to a 3000,-sq. ft. location at 1303 E. 6th Ave., halfway between Downtown Denver and Cherry Creek.
