Due to all the changes "American Idol" has gone through, they need a big extravaganza to show their unity and pull people back in.

The biggest question of the summer still remains unanswered: who will replace Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres on "American Idol"? Many A-list and B-list stars are rumored to be signing on, but no one knows which boldfaced names will be sitting next to Randy or Kara in a few weeks’ time—not to mention whether either of those veteran judges will remain on the panel. The Predicto Mobile community has been sounding off via text message on which celebrities they would like to see on the hit show.
Once Ellen DeGeneres announced that she would not be returning to "Idol," speculation about her and Cowell’s replacements reached a fever pitch. Among those initially rumored to be joining the show were pop megastars Justin Timberlake and Elton John. Although the buzz has died down regarding the former boy bander, the new boss of "American Idol" recently revealed that Sir Elton is his number one choice to replace Cowell. Predicto members seem to favor youth over experience, with the majority voting in favor of Timberlake joining the show.
Jennifer Lopez appeared to be a lock as "Idol's" top new female judge. But just as quickly as rumors placed her on the panel came news that she was too demanding and had been dropped from the lineup. Soon after, Mariah Carey coyly suggested that she would be open to joining the series as well, and suddenly two female pop stars were vying for the coveted position at the "Idol" stage. Yet there is probably room for only one diva, and Predicto voters give the slight edge to J. Lo.
With all the hype surrounding the appointment of the most important judges next to the Supreme Court, perhaps Fox will want to cash in on the interest. Remember the stir that NBA star LeBron James created when he announced his new team in a televised special called "The Decision?" More than 60% of the Predicto Mobile community believes "Idol" will air a similar spectacle. One member thinks a formal TV announcement is necessary because “due to all the changes they have gone through, they need a big extravaganza to show their unity and pull people back in.”
The Predicto voter brings up a good point: will previously loyal fans return to watching the show without Cowell and his scathing but entertaining critiques? More than 20,000 votes from the Predicto community indicates that the series still fascinates the American public. It remains to be seen if this kind of interest will translate into ratings success. No doubt "Idol" producers are banking on the media buzz surrounding the new celebrity hires to attract viewers in its tenth season.
