Federal Government Calling for Broad Adoption of Cloud-Based Approach, Including Managing FOIA Requests & Meeting Technology Requirements

Our cloud-based Public Records Tracker program has enormous value for government CIO’s, especially at the federal level where there is a mandate to migrate to cloud solutions

Chief Information Officers throughout government – especially at the federal level – are realizing the value of an effective, inexpensive “cloud-based” solution for managing FOIA requests, according to the makers of Public Records Tracker™.

Public Records Tracker is a natural fit for new federal requirements going into effect this fall. It offers an easy-to-use, web-based solution with all the functionality for government to manage citizen requests, meet mandatory deadlines and automatically produce the Attorney General (DOJ) Annual Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) report.

“Our cloud-based program has enormous value for government CIO’s, especially at the federal level where there is a mandate to migrate to cloud solutions,” said John Schloemann, vice president for Eskel Porter Consulting, the California firm that developed Public Records Tracker, powered by Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Vivek Kundra, the CIO for the Office of Management of Budget (OMB), has issued a federal government mandate for all agencies to establish cloud computing and integrating into all new IT projects beginning at the start of the new fiscal year this October. By fiscal year 2013, the policy will require agencies to provide details and road maps on their plans for adopting cloud-based technologies.

“In response to this edict, a number of federal government entities have either purchased the program or are planning to implement it before year end”, said Schloemann.

Managing FOIA requests is a natural fit for cloud computing because relative to other government information systems, there is less risk and sensitivity associated with information posted to the cloud.
