Energychoices.co.uk is urging customers to compare energy deals and switch if necessary as gas and electricity prices are set for further price increases.

It’s important to compare energy prices now and make sure you’re on the cheapest deal as there’s only two months until the clocks change and the winter weather kicks in.

EDF Energy is the latest “big six” energy supplier to increase prices on a number of its electricity tariffs by around 2.6%.

The energy giant said the price hikes were in response to a 16% increase in its distribution and transmissions costs since March last year.

Chris Eagle, commercial manager at Energychoices.co.uk, has warned customers that this first electricity price hike could be a sign of things to come. He’s urging people to shop around and find the best deal available.

Eagle said: “EDF has become the latest big energy company to put up its prices but it will not be the last.
“You should regularly compare all the different energy tariffs on the market and check whether you would be better off switching to a new energy deal.

“Doing nothing is the worst thing you can do. Visit Energychoices.co.uk now to see how much you might save by switching to a cheaper energy tariff.”

EDF electricity tariffs, which will be affected by the price rise include:

  •     Standard
  •     Green
  •     Climate Balance
  •     Eco20:20
  •     Energy Discount Plan v2
  •     Energy Discount Plan v3
  •     Energy Assist
  •     Online 1 - 6
  •     Online Saver v1
