Film production company Hand Crank Films creates provoking commercial campaign in the middle of media firestorm regarding the 'Ground Zero' mosque controversy. 3 ads slated to start airing nationally today.

"9/11 Happened to Us All!"

Hand Crank Films just finished production on a campaign of national public service announcements (PSA’s) for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The 3 spots discuss the important role that Muslims played in the 9/11 First Responder effort, and highlight the fact that people of all races and religions were dramatically impacted on that day. The campaign launches today, September 1, 2010.

“We wanted to capture the essence of the story surrounding that day,” says Max Kaiser, director at Hand Crank Films. “Our spots aren’t about being Muslim as much as they are about being American - and how all Americans were tragically affected by 9/11.”

Two of the three PSAs, which will be distributed to national television stations and social media sites, feature Muslim first responders and the theme "9/11 happened to us all."

"These public service announcements have the potential to reach millions of Americans with a message of religious inclusion and mutual understanding," says CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

The third PSA features Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders describing the "golden rule" as expressed by their respective faiths –- and ends with the phrase, "We have more in common than we think." The PSA is designed to show the commonalities between faiths and to challenge those who would divide America along religious lines.

Hand Crank Films scripted, shot and edited all three advertisements in just one week to accommodate CAIR’s launch dates.
