SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 will soon effectively replace the longstanding Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70; known to many as simply SAS 70. Since its inception in April of 1992, the SAS 70 auditing standard has achieved wide-spread recognition as the global auditing standard for reporting on controls at service organizations. However, all good things must come to an end, and with that, emerges Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) and The International Standards on Assurance Engagements; Assurance Reports on Controls at a Service Organization (ISAE 3402). In short, if you're an auditor, a service organization or looking to gain a greater understanding about third-party assurance reporting, it's now time to learn more about SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402.
SSAE 16, put forth by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), represents a migration and adoption towards more globally accepted accounting standards. Likewise, ISAE 3402, introduced by the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), a standard-setting board of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), is the internationally accepted standard for reporting on controls at service organizations and will also play a critical role in assurance reporting.
Because of their importance in reshaping the landscape for service organization reporting, both the SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 standards require an in-depth and comprehensive understanding by all parties involved.
As such, NDB Accountants & Consultants, a nationally recognized PCAOB CPA firm specializing in regulatory compliance, has developed two industry leading websites specifically devoted to both the SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 standards.
The SSAE 16 Resource Guide and the ISAE 3402 Resource Guide provide timely, relevant, and "need to know" factual information on these two very important auditing standards. Both sites have an abundance of information relating specifically to each standard, along with additional sections such as F.A.Q.'s, white papers, and more. Additionally, NDB will continue to add content to both sites for ensuring you are kept current on the ever-changing and fast paced service organization environment.
NDB also provides SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 services, ranging from Readiness Assessments to Service Auditor reporting, along with PCI assessments and other as-needed compliance and attestation services.
