Anat Hirsch gives young readers an easy way to bridge the gap between English spelling and pronunciation in her new book C.O.M Method for Acquiring Reading Skills in English. C.O.M or Control-Obsession-Mastery is a new method that helps non-native English-speaking individuals overcome the difficulty of accurate English spelling and pronunciation.
The method is as such: the student learns only fifteen basic words by heart. These include the pronouns and their auxiliary verbs in the present tense, and a few prepositions. The book includes these basic words as well as words that are pronounced exactly the way they are written or spelled. Once the student feels like he knows how to read English, he or she will then be taught phonological patterns. After each group of patterns, the pupil is tasked to read sentences and stories. The patterns used are only those that were already taught in previous sections, ensuring an easy yet effective progression in learning.
C.O.M Method for Acquiring Reading Skills in English ensures that the student becomes familiar with what he or she is reading, thereby effectively translating such words into phonological models, with or without any sound deviations.
C. O. M Method for Acquiring Reading Skills in English will be featured at this year’s Frankfurt International Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany on October 6 to 10, 2010. For more information, log on to Xlibris.com.
