The 2010 Heart of a Champion Luncheon will benefit Heart House Dallas, a free afterschool educational program, on its 10th anniversary of service to children in the Dallas County area. The event, presented this year by Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P., will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at The Tower Club, 1601 Elm Street, Dallas, at 12 Noon.
Bill Lively, President & CEO, North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, is the keynote speaker at the September 23rd luncheon. Everson Walls, former Dallas Cowboys’ noted cornerback and current nationwide speaker is serving as Honorary Chairman. Local personality, Scott Murray, will act as Master of Ceremonies. A very special Heart of a Champion award presentation will be made to Barbara and Stanley Levenson, fervent advocates for Heart House Dallas and well-known in the local area for their philanthropic work in the community.
During the past ten years, Heart House Dallas has provided a safe, nurturing, and supportive haven for at-risk children at the apartment complexes where they live. Heart House provides academic support offering various programs that include homework assistance, citizenship and character development, math, science, and literacy lessons. The Heart House Dallas environment helps these children through each success to build their self-confidence significantly both at school and in life and the opportunity to become the best they can be as individuals.
“This year’s Heart of a Champion luncheon is special in so many ways and we are honored to have Bill Lively, Everson Walls, and Scott Murray join us in our celebration,” said Lea Beach, Executive Director, Heart House Dallas. “We are also thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize Barbara and Stanley Levenson who are so strongly committed to Heart House’s mission and goals.”
“We are enormously proud of the success Heart House Dallas has achieved since its opening in 2000 in helping so many students of diverse backgrounds and cultures become more adept at school and feel safer in their communities,” Beach continued. “Anyone who supports the programs of Heart House Dallas changes what life will be for our children.”
“We are changing our community and the world one child at a time,” she added.

About Heart House
Heart House Dallas is a free afterschool educational program that provides a safe haven and academic support for at-risk children while encouraging them to become good citizens. Nearly 136,000 children in Dallas County need quality after school care. At Heart House Dallas, children have access to caring adult role models, homework assistance, art enrichment, computer learning, health and safety topics, and literacy programs.
Heart House has touched the lives of hundreds of children since September 2000. By giving these children a safe environment, the program protects them from the idleness and negative elements they may encounter when they step off the school bus and while walking to their homes. http://www.hearthousedallas.org
