Recent changes to occupational health and safety regulations in New South Wales mean it is now illegal to perform high risk work without employing a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Synergies Training System can help employers source the best RTO at the best price, to get their employees up to speed and fully licensed.

Under the new regulations, employers need to ensure that every employee performing high risk work is licensed to do so. Fines apply for every unlicensed employee, or employees who continue to use a log book without an RTO. Synergies Training System can help to make it easier for employers and workers to find the right training at the best price. "We use our experience in the industry to find the best training providers and our purchasing power often allows us to reduce the cost of the training for the employer," says Adam Nicholson, Director of Synergies Training System.

The new licensing system, The National Standard, was introduced by WorkCover NSW on September 1st 2009 and replaced the previous National Certificate of Competency (NCOC). It prescribes 29 high risk work licence classes, including dogging, rigging, scaffolding, crane operation, and forklift and pressure equipment operation. Each has a corresponding unit of competency, which must be undertaken by employees. RTOs manage all training and assessment processes.

It is imperative employers comply with the regulations of The National Standard. "Employers who are unaware of the legislation change and have not updated their training arrangements are breaking the law," says Adam Nicholson. "They risk fines and in some cases suspension of work, as well as a detailed inspection by WorkCover NSW. It really makes sense to update their training as soon as possible. "

Synergies Training Systems is a rapidly growing training broker based in Randwick. Their innovative approach allows companies to outsource their training and compliance requirements, resulting in time and cost savings for the organization, as well as high quality training outcomes.
