It's only when you see it applied to your list data: instantly presenting insights and summaries that might otherwise have taken you hours to uncover, that you really understand how it can help you.

Online security specialists Websense choose Pentalogic Technology's innovative PivotPoint webpart for SharePoint to deliver dynamic marketing dashboards.
When the San Diego based Marketing team at online security specialists Websense started to move their Excel data into SharePoint they had some very specific dashboarding requirements. They wanted to be able to dynamically slice and dice their data with a pivot view. Nothing they had, either with SharePoint out of the box, or 3rd party solutions, could give them that functionality.
Robin Bolton, Websense Intranet Program Manager explains: "We have long been a user of Pentalogic's SharePoint Planner webpart too, so I knew Pentalogic could turn things round quickly if it came to the crunch. So that's why I choose PivotPoint."
"We were really pleased to be able to put together this case study with Websense." said Pentalogic CTO and founder Ryan Wheeler, "PivotPoint is perhaps the least understood of our products, but maybe one of the most useful."
"Accountants and Statisticians have grown up with pivot tables and cross tabulations so they "get" the concept of a pivot view instantly. But for the rest of us the concept can be a bit tricky to grasp in the abstract."
"It's only when you see it applied to your list data: instantly presenting insights and summaries that might otherwise have taken you hours to uncover, that you really understand how it can help you."
"PivotPoint is the only SharePoint webpart on the market that allows users to apply a pivot view directly to SharePoint list data. It gives users the ability to create meaningful dashboards from raw list data in moments, and dashboards are dynamic - updated as your list data changes." said Wheeler.
The trial of PivotPoint went well for the Websense marketing team Robin Bolton continued: "one Marketing Director stated it was the coolest thing she had ever seen (hopefully an exaggeration on her part!)".
"Because the benefits of PivotPoint can be difficult to see the abstract it's great to get this real-world example of the product being used," says Wheeler "Hopefully the Websense case study will give other organizations insights into how they might use PivotPoint to extract business intelligence from their SharePoint list data."
