Destin, FL (PRWEB) September 8, 2010
Northwest Florida rebounded after a struggling summer to boost tourism during Labor Day weekend. “This Labor Day holiday was a banner weekend for resorts along the Gulf Coast, more so than the last three or four years," said Andy Phillips, president of Counts Oakes Resort Properties. “The weather was excellent and the beaches were open and oil-free. Those factors, combined with pent-up demand from the summer, beckoned visitors back to the beach. The "Back to the Beach" concerts and Beaches of South Walton gift card program have also sparked tourism activity,” said Phillips.
The next "Back to the Beach" concert is a joint initiative between The Beaches of South Walton and Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Sandestin will host Grammy-winner Mary Chapin Carpenter and country music legend Vince Gill during a free outdoor concert September 25, 2010.
"We are very pleased to present the talents of Vince Gill and Mary Chapin Carpenter in one amazing outdoor concert,” said Dawn Moliterno, executive director of the Beaches of South Walton Tourist Development Council. “We hope the opportunity to see these artists perform in a beautiful and relaxing outdoor setting will encourage travelers to come to the Beaches of South Walton and see for themselves that these beaches are still as beautiful as ever.”
Tickets will be distributed through participating Beaches of South Walton lodging hosts. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. Mary Chaplin Carpenter will open the concert at 6:00 p.m. Following her musical performance, Headliner Vince Gill will take the stage set on the award-winning The Links Golf Course overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay. Vince Gill is expected to play a 90-minute show.
In addition to the concert, visitors booking a three-night stay at participating Beaches of South Walton properties will receive their choice of a $250 gift card redeemable at Silver Sands Factory Store or Southwest Airlines. Funding for the Back to the Beach Concert and gift cards is made possible by a grant from BP.
