LogiGear Corporation, the world leader in providing global solutions for software testing, will be holding a VISTACON pre-event press briefing, 10 September, 2010. The press event will further detail the conference theme of “Software-Testing Education in Vietnam”.

LogiGear plans to announce at the event that it is translating and releasing its entire suite of software-testing books into Vietnamese, the first of which will be “Testing Applications on the Web.’ This book, in addition to teaching an individual how to test on the web, is also designed to help engineers make career decisions about software testing. For Vietnam, this is a critical component to help enhance existing high-technology educational programs which in turn help satisfy the demand for high-quality software-testing resources in the global IT services market. Much of LogiGear’s business strategy in Vietnam has focused on helping the country improve existing higher education computer science programs, which lack any type of curriculum focused on software testing. LogiGear believes these upstream educational programs provide Vietnam a pipeline of qualified engineering resources that IT Service companies and LogiGear can source for their multi-national clients.

For example, in 2009, collaboration between LogiGear Corporation and Ho Chi Minh City University of Science (HCMC) yielded the LogiGear Certified Test Professional (LCTP) program. The LCTP program offers skill-based training programs on software-testing practices, methods and technology for students interested in adding software testing to their computer science degree program in Vietnam. Graduates of the program can then take these valuable skills into Vietnam’s growing high tech workforce, substantially improving the software testing competency of Vietnam’s IT services businesses. The LCTP program and the translation of LogiGear’s book catalog is one of many planned educational improvement programs LogiGear will introduce in Vietnam.

The press briefing will take place at the Sheraton Hotel I Ho Chi Minh City. Local media, university representatives, VISTACON sponsors, and IT-related organizations are all invited. In addition, the press briefing will include awarding the winners of the VISTACON international software-testing bug hunting competition. The winners will receive free VISTACON passes.
