ROSworks, a Long-Time Provider of Educational Assessment Software, is Pleased to Announce a New Release, Version 8 of Its Flagship Software, Report Online System (ROS). ROS is a Test Item-Banking, Scoring, Administration, and Reporting System Used in School Districts and Schools, Primarily In VA and Mid-Atlantic Region, for Standards-Based K–12 Testing. The New Release Speeds Online Test Construction and Computer-Based Test Administration, Saves Custom Reports, and Adds Numerous Other Refinements to Its Time Proven Software Base.

The Report Online System (ROS) release (Version 8) for SY 2010-2011 is based on requests for new features and easier access of powerful report elements. ROS is a test item-banking, scoring, administration, and reporting system used in school districts and schools for standards-diagnostic K–12 testing. “We find that our clients are one our most valuable sources of innovative ideas and enhancements to our testing system,” said David Mott, ROSworks’ founder. He added, “We look at help requests, training evaluations, and customer surveys for inspirational nuggets. Often, clients don’t know how novel their thoughts are. We couple these ideas with our years of experience in designing assessment systems to implement a constantly-evolving product.”

Named Reports—a new feature, allows a complex report, created by a knowledgeable user, to be saved for others’ use. That report can be called up and applied to other data by any system user. With Named Reports, additional features to the underlying reports can be added for experts, without increasing the complexity for average users. Another new feature—Online Testing Tools—permits a test maker to assign one one of nine interactive web tools (compass, ruler, protractor, eraser, etc.) for student’s use on a particular test question. These Online Testing Tools are of the type currently used on various states’ standards-based online tests.

A new administrative-user Dashboard allows administrators to monitor ongoing testing processes. Also, a new test Question Editor and Test Assembler permits test creators to choose any question from item banks and place them on new tests. New questions also may be entered directly and existing questions modified with the editor. Tests can be reordered. “We also streamlined the interface overall and added numerous context-sensitive help features,” Dr. Mott said. “We believe our current users will see a noticeable difference.”

ROSworks, LLC and it predecessor company, R& D Group, has been in the test creation and assessment scoring and reporting business for more than 12 years.
