Twelve students participating in executive coach training course.

The Gardner Institute (, a certified life coach training company, began its 10th Mindset for Success coaching program August 26 with a four-day on-site workshop. The three-month coach training program equips individuals with the fundamental skills, techniques and tools needed to launch a successful business coaching career.

According to Dr. Jayne Gardner, founder of The Gardner Institute, this is the largest and most diverse class to be enrolled in a Mindset for Success class, which is accredited by the International Coach Federation.

"We are thrilled to have 12 students enrolled in the fall program and even more so that they differ in age, ethnicity and background," says Gardner, attributing the large class size to executive coaching being one of the fastest growing occupations. "Not only will this enrich the experience for the students, but it provides a more realistic class-setting for learning and hands-on exercises."

Gardner kicked-off the workshop with a motivational speech and inspirational quote, "The only greater happiness than knowing you have fully lived your life is knowing that you helped others achieve the same." Additional topics included an overview of executive coaching, professional ethics and role-playing activities.

The remaining classes in the 60-hour life coach training program are held weekly via teleconference and teach students how to learn the program by applying its principles to their own lives and emerge fully qualified to coach their own clients to more empowering beliefs that will unlimit their potential for professional and personal success. Completion of the course, including supervised coaching practice in a learning environment and a written exam, prepares the participant for licensure as a Gardner Institute Mindset for Success Coach.

MiMi Heines, a student in the Mindset for Success program, had this say at the end of the four-day workshop, "Training through The Gardner Institute is incredibly inspirational. Jayne has a special gift, and Dave and Susan add to that to change lives - certainly those of the coaches who study here, followed by those whose lives we will touch."

Recently added to the course syllabus is a 'business building' component, which is a five-part series that encompasses core marketing principles, identifying target and niche markets, developing a marketing strategy, and mastering the sales process.

"This is a nice foundation to help students grow their coaching business," says Michael Charest, instructor and owner of Business Growth Solutions (BGS). "We give them a taste of our nine-month program, allowing them to see what is available."

The Gardner Institute formed an alliance with BGS to enhance its Core Coach Training Course with a series of dynamic business building classes aimed at giving students a jump-start with establishing their business.

"One reason The Gardner Institute created a business alliance with BGS is because I saw that we were highly successful at training participants to be dynamic coaches, but they were struggling when it came to reaching their business goals," explains Gardner. "This partnership with Michael gives us the turnkey program for training outstanding coaches who then learn the skills and discipline to build successful prosperous coaching businesses."

Applications are currently being accepted for the Spring 2011 Mindset For Success coach training program, which begins February 16. An application is available at For additional information, contact The Gardner Institute at 817-416-9400.
