During this presentation, University of Georgia's Becky Lane, HR Senior Director, and Lydia Lanier, Senior Director of the Financial Management and Education Center, will join TALX's Scott Scheibel during Concurrent Session 5A to discuss how the university addressed its need to ensure the accuracy of its employment verifications, while reducing costs. The panel will share the implementation process for automated verifications, including file development, communication and dealing with resistance from verifiers. The presentation also will examine the changing service expectations of faculty and staff, as well as the requirements related to verifications for "verifiers" such as lenders.
Becky Lane has worked for the University of Georgia Human Resources for 20 years, starting in the Training and Development unit in 1989. She graduated from UGA in 1976 with a degree in Journalism and then worked in media sales for 12 years prior to joining the university. Her primary responsibilities are HR, campus and external communication, and project implementation.
Lydia Lanier earned a bachelor of arts in English from UGA and came to Human Resources in 2000. She has worked for more than 25 years in benefits administration, human resources management and customer service in private industry and with the University of Georgia.
Scott Scheibel holds the position of Director of Client Relations for TALX. In his role, he is responsible for all U.S. clients that partner with TALX for Employment and Income Verifications, I-9 Management, and W-2 Management. He has presented at many events including the American Staffing Association's National Forum for whom he also served as Chairman of the Technology Advisory Committee. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.
