From the IBC Expo in Amsterdam, Unlimi-Tech Software releases the much anticipated update to FileCatalyst Direct

They trust our technology to deliver their files quickly and reliably, so when they have suggestions on how our products could be improved, we listen.

Unlimi-Tech Software is pleased to announce from the IBC Expo in Amsterdam the release of FileCatalyst Direct 2.8, the latest version of their point-to-point file transfer solution. Unlimi-Tech Software are innovators in the accelerated file transfer sphere and developers of the FileCatalyst platform.

Many of the new features included in this release are a direct response to ongoing feedback. “We are quite fortunate to have close relationships with our clients,” said Christian Charette, Software Development Manager at Unlimi-Tech. “They trust our technology to deliver their files quickly and reliably, so when they have suggestions on how our products could be improved, we listen.”

One such feature is Remote Administration for FileCatalyst HotFolder. Many customers moved from using HotFolder as an “end-user only” application to creating sophisticated internal processes dependent on HotFolder’s rich automation features. The seamless implementation of the Remote Server Administration has always been a strength of the FileCatalyst platform, so a counterpart for the HotFolder client was a natural step.

Web-based interaction also continues to grow in demand. “We’ve made file transfer web applets for over a decade,” says Chris Bailey, CEO of Unlimi-Tech, “but for the most part we’ve limited applets to on-demand transfer tasks. With FileCatalyst Direct 2.8, we have changed that.” The latest release puts access to both HotFolder and Server Administration right into the browser. Combined with the existing transfer applets, this means that once deployed, an organization’s FileCatalyst solution may be accessed from anywhere in the world using only a browser with an internet connection.

Data transfer should also have flexibility to succeed through any connection in the world; but security settings varies from location to location. “HTTP failover is a critical function for many organizations using FileCatalyst,” says Christian Charette, “and our Tunneling Servlet has been doing a great job.” However, the Tunneling Servlet was previously a separate add-on product with its own installation and configuration. “We saw the opportunity to make life easier for FileCatalyst administrators,” continues Christian Charette, “so naturally we jumped on it. The core functionality hasn’t changed, but it still makes a big difference for our customers.”
