And announces new benefits for Welsh nurses after acquisition by HCL plc

This is a very exciting time for MPS Healthcare. Our commitment now is to provide our NHS clients with a fast, efficient and high quality service, to grow and expand into new marketplaces, and to help our nurses reap the benefits.

MPS Healthcare, Wales’s largest staffing agency for nurses and part of HCL plc, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a new place on the NHS All Wales Agency Contract. Under the terms of this prestigious contract, which comes into force on 1 October 2010 and will run for two years, MPS Healthcare will supply nurses to the NHS right across Wales.

Opportunities exist for Bands 5 and 6 nurses with a minimum of 6 months’ experience in a range of specialties including: General Medical, A&E, Paediatrics, ITU, Trauma and Community. There are jobs for nurses available in leading hospitals across Wales including Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Velindre NHS Trust and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board.

MPS Healthcare also announces that it has been acquired by HCL plc, one of the UK’s largest health and social care staffing agencies. MPS will continue to operate as a standalone brand within HCL plc, with no changes to its recruitment teams or terms of service for its clients. MPS nurses are set to benefit financially from the acquisition, as HCL plc will in future introduce a loyalty scheme in which nurses will earn points for every hour they work for MPS. These points will then be able to be redeemed against a range of high street vouchers. HCL will also introduce a faster payroll system for MPS nurses, meaning that they will get paid more quickly for the shifts they work for MPS.

MPS clients, meanwhile, will benefit from HCL plc’s large database of nurses, full service recruitment options and the stability and growth that comes from being part of an international market leading company.

Alyx Peters, General Manager of MPS Healthcare, said:

“Nursing is one of the most important jobs anyone can do, and in these challenging economic times our commitment is to support and reward nurses in Wales by finding them the best jobs available, at leading facilities across the region. We feel privileged to have been awarded a place on the NHS All Wales Agency Contract and are committed to working with our clients to provide the best possible service to them.

“Furthermore, being part of the HCL plc family will enable us to give our nurses even more benefits – in future, not only will they see their pay arriving in their bank accounts faster than ever before, but they’ll also be earning free loyalty points for every hour they work with us.

“This is a very exciting time for MPS Healthcare. Our commitment now is to provide our NHS clients with a fast, efficient and high quality service, to grow and expand into new marketplaces, and to help our nurses reap the benefits.”
