Network Critical, the creator of the network TAP solution, has had additional modules of the Smart Network Access (SmartNA) System certified by Enterasys Networks. Network Critical is the preferred TAP solution for use with the Enterasys (also known as Dragon) Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).
Enterasys has once again tested and certified that Network Critical’s Smart Network Access (SmartNA) System provides a high performance method for traffic access to the Enterasys IPS. In this round of testing, the SmartNA fiber modules and SFP port control module were tested.
The interchangeable modules of the SmartNA System allow the user to connect their network to the Enterasys IPS no matter what media is used within their network. During the first round of testing, Enterasys certified that the SmartNA TAP modules with RJ-45 copper connections worked well. It was also confirmed that SmartNA TAP modules utilizing a single mode or multi-mode fiber connection are best for any fiber network.
Today many organizations are concerned about meeting auditor’s guidelines for security compliance. By combining the SmartNA System from Network Critical with the Enterasys IPS, they can be assured of a receiving a passing grade. By combining both of these powerful tools, companies can gather the evidence of an attack (without interference on the network), remove the attacker’s access and reconfigure the network to resist the attacker’s penetration techniques.
“The flexibility of the Smart Network Access System makes it ideal for accessing traffic for the Enterasys IPS,” said Chris Bihary, Managing Director of the Americas for Network Critical. “Our datacenter design with interchangeable modules allows customers to install a permanent solution while still maintaining flexibility for changes and growth.”
“One of the significant challenges enterprises face today is protection of corporate data without sacrificing network performance,” said Barry Cioe, Vice President of Product Management at Enterasys Networks. “Network Critical’s high performance TAP solution and the patented Enterasys IPS work together to deliver fully distributed protection from both internal and external threats without having to deploy appliances on every wire.”
The Smart Network Access System provides a flexible module and chassis platform for installing permanent enterprise-level access into the datacenter. With its fully configurable, hot-swappable modules, available with either copper or fiber connections, the Smart Network Access System is easily integrated into any data center configuration.
