"World Through Our Eyes," hosted by The Silhouette in Brooklyn, is a spectacular showcase of local artists

New York, NY - September 13, 2010 -- The group that developed The Silhouette, Brooklyn's first Platinum LEED certified new building, is teaming up with local artists to host "The World Through our Eyes," a charity art exhibition for the benefit of The Gulf Restoration Network's oil spill cleanup efforts.

From September 16 through September 19, with the assistance of curator Reka Nyari, the Silhouette will act as a gallery for local photographers who are donating all proceeds from the sale of their work to assist in the restoration of the Gulf. Exhibit hours are Thursday, Sept. 16, 6PM to 9PM; and Friday through Sunday, Sept. 17-19, by appointment only.

"The World Through Our Eyes" will highlight amazing talent from the NYC community within the Silhouette's unique, eco-friendly living spaces. Artists include Bill Phelps (winner of the 2010 International Photography Award as the Fine Art Photographer of the Year), Brian Leighton, Ohad Maiman, Phillip Graybill, and Paul de Luna. Their dramatic works will focus on the earth's ecosystem and environment.

Christie's auction house will provide an auctioneer to facilitate sales of the artwork on display at the exhibition.

In addition, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce's Real Estate and Development Committee is conducting its "RED Nite" on site at The Silhouette on September 16 from 6:00 - 9:00PM, which will coincide with the opening night of "The World Through Our Eyes."

Funds raised will be donated to The Gulf Restoration Network, which is committed to uniting and empowering people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf Region for future generations. For more information on the Gulf Restoration Network, see
