Shoe Fashion Show, Improv, Awards and Shopping Highlight Event.

People always talk about multi-taskers wearing many hats, but in my experience today’s businesswomen don’t wear a lot of hats. They do, however, wear multiple pairs of shoes for all the jobs they do.”

The event, initiated by Kathy Ameche, Travel Expert, Business Consultant and Traveler-in-Chief of the website WomanRoadWarrior.com after the success of her book The Woman Road Warrior: A Woman’s Guide to Business Travel, honors women business travelers. “What better way to celebrate our fifth year than bringing together extraordinary women, good food and great shoes,” Ameche commented.

WGN Reporter Marcella Raymond will act as hostess for the festivities. The event will cover a lot of ground from Ameche’s latest travel updates, and improv from Second City performers, to a fall preview and shoe fashion show featuring the latest and greatest for walking the walk. There will even be a shoe salon for a little on-site shopping.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Women Who Go the Extra Mile and the Shoes They Do It In.” “It’s a great metaphor,” says Ameche. People always talk about multi-taskers wearing many hats, but in my experience today’s businesswomen don’t wear a lot of hats. They do, however, wear multiple pairs of shoes for all the jobs they do.”

Awards will be given to women business travelers who go the furthest, fastest, and most unusual places in their travels while going the extra mile for their community, clients or family. “We’ve had nominees from around the country from a wide variety of professions,” Ameche said, “it’s incredible all the things these women do.”

Woman Road Warrior has also linked with local non-profit Bridge to Success and is encouraging attendees to bring donations of gently worn shoes. “Most of us have collected traveling shoes, business shoes, Mom shoes, fun shoes, slippers, clogs and heels,” Ameche explained. “If we can pass some of these on so that someone else can gain a little confidence or make a better first impression, I would be delighted.”

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at http://womanroadwarrior.com/.
The event is open to the public.
