The Odyssey: Trail of Tears

An interactive movie adventure game for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad

TheOdyssey.tv today announced that the 3.0 update to The Odyssey: Trail of Tears has been submitted for inclusion in Apple's iOS App Store. Spanning archeological sites in seven states, this interactive adventure is currently available as version 2.0 on the App Store.

Josh Cuppett, creator of the game, commented:

“The Odyssey: Trail of Tears finally has a conclusion worthy of its namesake. Version 2.0 was subtle with its references to Native American achievements, but in version 3.0 viewers finally get to see the wonders built by the Anasazi. Mesa Verde and other sites have beautiful pueblos that were suddenly abandoned around the year 1300. The Odyssey: Trail of Tears 3.0 digs deeper into who the Anasazi were and where they went.”

The game uses an unique narrative mechanic allowing players to direct the protagonist to various sites and then watch a video blog entry recorded at those sites. When enough information has been obtained about a given site, the game rewinds time and allows the protagonist to venture to another site. Eventually all of the information obtained converges into a cohesive ending that includes numerous Native American sites on restricted military bases, including Area 51 at the Nellis Air Force Base.

Pending Apple's approval, The Odyssey: Trail of Tears 3.0 will be available for $4.99 in the App Store on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Owners of version 2.0, priced at $2.99 and available now here, will receive the 3.0 update for free.
