Locavores apply: Quicks Hole staying open year round with new winter menu based on locally available harvests.

Vineyard and Chatham Oysters will be shucked as part of the Sept 25th CLASH event starting at Quicks Hole.

The Quicks Hole Restaurant ( on Cape Cod announces a new winter menu of comfort foods launching Wednesday September 15th. The restaurant looks forward to continuing to impress locals and visitors with their lobster tacos, burritos, scratch-made soups and salads.

“Small businesses on Cape Cod survive on the laurels of the locals so we put a lot of stock into making sure the year-rounders love the food here,” said owner Beth Colt. “We are so proud to be the lunch spot for everyone from the local plumber to Nobel laureates who work at the Woods Hole Oceanographic and Marine Biological Laboratories.”

Quicks Hole is known for sourcing foods locally, and making everything from scratch on site. “I love to be inspired by local farmers and regional foods,”: said chef Stephanie Mikolaysk. “As we head into winter, I am bringing in local beets, arugula, butternut squash while continuing to make my Quahog chowder fresh every day.”

“It’s so rewarding to work this way,” she added, explaining that she grew up in the water in Rhode Island and is the daughter of a local lobsterman, so she knows her chowders.

Quicks Hole has formed a partnership with CLASH, the Cape Land and Sea Harvest, and will offer Martha’s Vineyard and Chatham oysters as part of a Woods Hole stroll on September 25, 2010. Tickets are available online through CLASH ( or at Quicks Hole restaurant (
