We are here to serve our clients, and to give them gold-standard, research-based professional development. With diminished funding from government and private sources, schools and districts have to make the most of their staff development dollars.
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) September 20, 2010 –
Educational Training Specialists, LLC, known for its wide array of teacher continuing education and Structured English Immersion training, has expanded to offer customized teacher workshops. Workshops can contain two to several of the topics offered in our current one-day trainings, or may even cover areas specific to the school’s or district’s needs.
“The decision to expand our offerings to include customizable teacher staff development programs was easy,” explains Anne Swigard, President of Educational Training Specialists, LLC. “Approximately one-third of the requests we receive from schools or districts are for teacher workshops not included in our professional development course listings.”
Districts once offered their teachers inservice trainings on a variety of topics. The economy has changed that. Many have found that staff development funding has dwindled. This translates to fewer teacher workshops or continuing education opportunities for their teachers.
Smaller budgets can also impact the way schools deliver their instruction. Swigard gives an example of a specialized 2-day program on Multiage teaching that the company recently developed to help parochial schools cope with the impact of lower enrollment. As the principal author of the company’s proprietary training materials, she was able to combine her experience as a Multiage teacher with that of a current Multiage practitioner to create a workshop that precisely addressed the schools’ needs. In addition to information and research on the topic, elements of the following workshops were used:
-- Differentiated Instruction
-- Cooperative Learning
-- Classroom Management
-- Strategies for Teachers of English Language Learners
-- Strategic Teaching
“We are here to serve our clients, and to give them gold-standard, research-based professional development. With diminished funding from government and private sources, schools and districts have to make the most of their staff development dollars,” adds Swigard. “Sometimes there’s a need to hit two or more subjects during a teacher workshop that relate to district or school goals, or that have been uncovered in the teacher coaching process. Our vast collective experience and array of resources allow us to do that.”
