Children affected by Autism, a neural development disorder, number in the millions in the United States. This is a little more than half of the world’s autistic population according to statistics recorded by the Census Bureau in 2009. Autism is characterized by unusual social development, restricted interests, and repetitive behavior. Organizations such as Breakthrough Developmental Services, LLC use applied behavior analysis in order to assist families and children who have been diagnosed with this disorder.
The Walk Now for Autism will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2010 on the National Mall in Washington D.C. and is a fun-filled, family friendly event. It is one of the most powerful forces to fund vital research that will lead to the answers needed for the cure. Experience the power of thousands united by a single cause by joining the Walk Now for Autism. Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disorders. More volunteers are needed to join the fight! Please visit http://www.WalkNowForAutism.org/National/HighSpirits for more information.
One college student, when asked why they would be walking, is quoted as saying, “There is believed to be a cure for anything through enough research, and this walk is to generate funds, support, and awareness for Autism and how to deal with it until a cure is found, because nothing in life is free.”
Breakthrough Developmental Services, LLC was founded in 2003 and formed in 2007 with the goal of providing behavioral based services to those in need. BDS treats every case differently and values confidentiality in order to better serve and help the special community.
