Go Green Fundraising was founded in 2008 with the mission of offering schools, sports leagues, and churches a way to raise money that kept the health of the planet, the customers, and the sellers in mind. The first products they offered included Smencils, reusable shopping bags, and a flower bulb fundraiser. According to Jordan Gottlieb, the president of Go Green Fundraising, "those first eco friendly fundraisers are still incredibly popular choices and have opened the eyes of many people to the fact that there are new, fun, effective, and environmentally friendly ways to raise money".

Recently, Go Green Fundraising has announced a number of new programs. Gottlieb explains "We added these fundraisers to meet the needs of a broader range of groups. While our first programs are still great choices, we knew that there were a lot of groups out there that we couldn't serve because they had different needs. These new fundraisers should really help us get the word out about green fundraising and help many more groups meet their fundraising goals in an eco friendly way".

One of the new fundraisers is a trail mix fundraiser that offers snack mixes made with seeds and nuts. It is intended to be an alternative for groups who have historically had success selling foods and snacks, but now have a need to offer healthier alternatives.

There are plans to add a number of other new fundraising ideas including a recycling fundraiser and a new Smencils option. "I just want to reiterate how important it is to us that groups of all kinds, whether the people are doing PTA fundraising programs or are raising money to plant flowers in a neighborhood, have products and programs that fit their needs but that are also earth friendly and raise significant amounts of money".

Profit margins for most of the programs are around 50% with some offering significantly more than that. Additionally, there is no cost to start most of the eco friendly fundraisers which is very important to most groups trying to raise money.
