"I once was the widow who spent nights wondering how I was going to care for a young daughter while in the midst of financial ruin after my late husband's death. I also well remember not being able to afford the cost of a grave marker for my late husband"
Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2010
Widows Wear Stilettos, Inc. the popular global support organization providing education, support and community to those who are widowed, is pleased to announce the formation of its non-profit foundation, entitled the "First Month" Foundation.
"Widows Wear Stilettos understands all too well the myriad financial challenges that the widowed face", says David K. Stansbury, Executive Vice President of Widows Wear Stilettos. "The purpose of the First Month Foundation will be to assist the widowed in three areas: First, the Foundation will endeavor to offer a one-time financial payment to assist with paying a bill or other household expense within the first 30 days after a spousal death. Next, we strongly feel that the most basic item to which every family is entitled is the placing of a grave marker or headstone in memory of their spouse and the costs of a funeral generally do not include this important remembrance of love and respect. The Foundation hopes to provide assistance to those who cannot afford the full cost of a grave marker. Lastly, Widows Wear Stilettos is steadfastly committed to the annual "Camp Widow" national conference; sponsored by the Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation. Understanding the educational, communal and emotional importance of this event to the widowed community; regardless of age, gender, marital status or length of time widowed, the Foundation would like to provide the registration fee, or "camperships" to the widowed in financial need who wish to attend."
Carole Brody Fleet, Founder and CEO of Widows Wear Stilettos, Inc. states, "I once was the widow who spent nights wondering how I was going to care for a young daughter while in the midst of financial ruin after my late husband's death. I also well remember not being able to afford the cost of a grave marker for my late husband for almost a year after his death. The formation of the First Month Foundation is the culmination of a years-long dream; in the hopes that other widows will have one less thing to worry about during what is likely the most devastating time in their lives."
