Key position assists patients through all stages of their surgery

After the surgery I asked ‘What do you call this great job?’

The Hackney Plastic Surgery Center announced today that it has named Rachel McCormick to be its second patient coordinator, a key position in the practice.

Ms. McCormick has three years experience in the plastic and cosmetic surgery field. Prior to joining the Hackney Plastic Surgery Center she worked as the patient coordinator for a leading plastic surgery practice in Las Vegas.

Dr. Fred Hackney, head of Center, says he is pleased to have Ms. McCormick on board. “Rachel has a natural gift for relating to people,” says Dr. Hackney, “That’s critical for this job.”

A patient coordinator acts as the liaison between the patient and their surgeon before and after surgery, supporting the patient through all aspects of their care.

McCormick says that her personal story helps her address any concerns a patient my have. “Having had surgery myself, I understand how you can have butterflies before the procedure,” she says.

Indeed, McCormick says her personal experience directly affected her career choice.

“When I had my surgery, the patient coordinator was such a great help to me,” she says. “After the surgery I asked ‘What do you call this great job?’” McCormick says the surgeon hired her on the spot.

McCormick looks forward to bringing her personal touch to her new position in Dr. Hackney’s practice. “I’ve always enjoyed counseling and taking care of people,” she says.
